Monday 20^th April 2009

Johan and I played on Monday and Emilio had a rest day. The weather changed and a strong wind, rain and the temperature dropped to very cold. I am playing in the players tournament and not the main National tournament. This is a tournament for players who want to attend the Nationals but do not want to play with the pressure of the main tournament and also have to play 4 rounds. The Players tournament is played over three rounds and on a different golf course each round. This round was played at Cotswold Downs in Cowies Hill. This course, considered one of South Africa’s best, was an hours drive in a coach out of Durban

Sunday 19^th April 2009

We started the day with a Wimpy breakfast at the beachfront .Then we travelled to the clubhouse where a drink or two was had with players from all over the region before tee off. Our National President Johan was given a car to use the whole week by Nomads sponsor Volvo. Both Johan and Emilio had their first round in the Nationals and produced scores of 32 and 29 respectively. The weather was kind to the players on Sunday although the wind did come up later. I had the day off and did some shopping. That night we had prize giving dressed in jacket and tie.

Saturday 18^th April 2009

Well The Grand Nationals Durban started for our National Chairman and me early Saturday morning when Johan picked me up in Randburg to catch the 8am flight to Durban.

We arrived at Durban at 9am and then we were driven to Royal Durban Golf Club. We were warmly welcomed to the Nationals and completed our registration formalities where we got our badges, bought tickets for the various draws and were given our” goody” bag

Get in quick as there is a lot of interested already in this inaugural tournament.
