Wikipedia & WAGR PDF Print E-mail
Written by Philip Clapham

Members,

It is a great pleasure to announce that we have an official Wikipedia entry!!

I created the Wikipedia entry for the Nomads Organisation as a whole and it took quite a while to get it as is. To have a look please click on the link below:

Nomads Wikipedia Entry

I'll shortly be writing to the webmasters of all the other clubs globally asking them to take a look and ammend or update information contained in the page. The important thing to remember is that there are links from the Wikipedia entry which will generate a lot of traffic to our individual clubs, in addition to making the Nomads name an Officially recognised body on the Internet that no one can copy without the agreement of affiliation from SA.

On a separate note you can follow some of the progress for J.Zee (Jordan Zunic) on the Royal & Ancient World Amateur Golf Ranking from the link below, current he is rated 838th in the world and rising.......fast.

Social Media & Networking PDF Print E-mail
Written by Philip Clapham

Fellow Members,

As you can see there are a few changes that have been made to the website in order to accomodate new audio and video content that we will be posting to the MULTI-MEDIA section of the Member Service area.

In addition to this we now have Social Networking enabled by creating a Twitter feed (NomadsGC) and a Facebook Page (Nomads Golf Club) that I would like you to subscribe to and become a fan of.

The reason for doing this is part of a Search Engine Optimization strategy to grow interest in the Club(s) around Australia. As you all know we have a Brisbane sister club but the National Committee is looking to expand into other territories around Australia. These new tools will help to raise our profile and good standing within the community to help us continue to support our Charity work and JNJGF Sponsorship of juniors.

On a final note I would please ask you to look at our Discussion Forum and start posting comments. The Discussion Forum can be found on the Member Services Area under Monthly Registration and I would REALLY like you to start using it for all related discussion around our club, Brisbane Club, founding a new club, general discussion etc. It is supposed to be the place where we can collaborate with ideas for the good of our club. It is also open to ANY Nomads member worldwide to comment on once they have Registered at forum.nomadsgolfaustralia.com  so please tell all your S.A. Comrades back home wherever they may be.

 Sincerely

Phil Clapham

National Webmaster

Joran Zunic Latest NEWS (aka J.Zee) PDF Print E-mail
Written by Philip Clapham
From Jordan's Family

Jordan has been up in Sydney since our interview and is playing at Moore Park this weekend in the City of Sydney Open Amateur.  Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to let you know before the weekend as I only got back from Sydney yesterday myself.

He played 18 holes yesterday and is playing 36 holes today.  He shot 2 over yesterday in very tough conditions with the best score 1 over, so coming equal 2nd.

Also just wanted to let the Nomads know (as promised last week) what Jordan has been up to over the last couple of months.

Jordan left for Alice Springs early in April to compete in the Australian Junior Amateur as captain of the NSW State Team which was held at Alice Springs Golf Club.  Jordan finished 8th with scores of 74, 70, 73 and 73 finishing 2 over for the tournament.  The next week he competed as part of the NSW Team in the Interstate Series playing No 1 and brought home the trophy winning the series ahead of Queensland by 3.5 matches.  Jordan was undefeated throughout his 7 matches.

Jordan then returned home and on 22 and 23 April he competed in the JNJGF Harvey Norman State Junior Matchplay and became the 17 Years Champion, defending his 2008 title.

We then received a phone call from Golf Australia to inform us that Jordan had been chosen as 1 of 4 of the Australian Under 19 Team to attend the World Junior Championships in Nagoya, Japan on 18-21 June to be held at Chukyo Golf Club.

And last but certainly not least Jordan left for Queensland on 26 April to compete in the Mens' Stroke Play Championships held at Pacific Harbour Golf Club on Bribie Island.  Jordan finished an amazing 2nd with a final score of 1 under par and qualified to compete in the Queensland Mens' Amateur Matchplay the next week as part of the final 16 players.  Unfortunately, he lost his first sudden death round.

The next tournament up there was the Keperra Bowl.  Jordan made the cut of 70 out of 156 players on the number and finished 65th with scores of 75, 70, 77 and 70 (par 72).

We are all very proud of Jordan's amazing achievements and thrilled to share this with the Nomads.  It is a very good feeling to give something back to the Members.
