Ruben Sondjaja's Tournament Update PDF Print E-mail
Written by Nomads Admin

Nomads,

You would be aware of our commitment to the JNJGF and us sponsoring 2 juniors. You would have read plenty of posts from Jordan Zunic and now we are getting regular updates from Ruben. Ruben is only 15 and a really good player who wants to go pro.

Ruben Sondjaja 01 July at 18:01

Hey Nomasds
,
Hows things?

I just came back from victoria playing the Victorian Boys Amateur at Yarra Yarra Golf Club and the Northern Golf Club. I ended up winning the under 16's division by 8 shots and coming in the top 10 overall. The tournament was a 72 hole format over 2 days. It was around 5 degrees everyday with gale force winds!! It was 5 club difference winds if that. I shot rounds of 76 77 76 80 which i felt i played really well to shoot. I can let you know on how i go on a few more tournaments coming up during the holidays.

Thanks Nomads,
Ruben.

JayZee at the British Amateur Championship PDF Print E-mail
Written by Philip Clapham
Just wanted to give you my final update for my trip. I played in the Amateur the last 2 days and I shot a 76 at Nth Berwick and a 72 at Muirfield with both courses being par 71's. Obviously this was not good enough to make the cut. I am disappointed with my results as I was expecting to play better but I loved playing such prestige courses!! Muirfield was a great course and a good test, probably one of the hardest courses I have ever played.

Overall I was expecting a little bit more results wise on this trip but I did find it different to playing golf in Aus!! I have gained a lot of experience over here which will benefit me the next time I get the chance to come over here to play golf.

Also I just wanted to take the chance to once again thank yourself and all the members of the Nomads for you generous support on my trip over here. You made this trip so easy for me as you gave me all the necessary information that I needed to know!!

I will get in touch with you when I arrive back in Aus and we can catch up so I can give you a run down of my trip.

Thanks again

Kind Regards
Jordan Zunic

JayZee Finishes T29th at Scottish Amateur PDF Print E-mail
Written by Philip Clapham

Hi Nomads.

How are you? Just thought I would give you an update on my trip in the UK so far.

I just finished my first tournament which was the Scottish Amateur Strokeplay Championship at Glasgow Gailes Golf Club. I made the cut and came T29th out of 144 players, shooting rounds of 68, 76, 79 and 75 on a par 71 course. I had a great start but was a little disappointed with my next 3 rounds but I find that golf is a totally different game on these true links courses especially when the wind gets up and I found that as the days went by I was getting used to the conditions more and more!!

This tournament was a great first experience in the UK and I feel that I am becoming more comfortable playing in these conditions, which gives me great confidence for the next 2 tournaments. I am now preparing for the St Andrews Links Trophy which starts on Friday. I had my first practise round today at the Jubilee Course and it was very nice but I am really excited to play the old course tomorrow, I think that will be the highlight of my trip!!
I am really liking it over here!! The courses are great!!

I will keep you posted.

Kind Regards
Jordan Zunic

Jordan Qualifies to Play in the British Amateur Championship PDF Print E-mail
Written by Philip Clapham

Second only in prestigiousness to the US Amateur, our lad, Jordan Zunic will be going over to the UK to play in the British Amateur Championship. His schedule is as follows:

"In regards to my trip away to the UK I am flying out to London on the 20th of May and will return on the 26th of June. I will be playing in three different tournaments when I am over there which are as follows:

- The Scottish Strokeplay Championships (28/5-30/5/2010) at Glasgow Gailes
- The St Andrews Links Trophy (4/6-6/6/2010) at the Old Course and Jubilee Course
- The British Amateur Championship (14/6-19/6/2010) at Muirfield and North Berwick

My Grandfather will be travelling with me and we will be staying with his relatives in Scotland which is near most of the venues which worked out great."

As a scholarship winner and Ambassador to Nomads we wish him the very best of luck.
